Why NSVH for Your Dog?
Three reasons local dog owners choose us over a corporate chain.
Fear Free Certified Team
Our team is trained to reduce fear and anxiety during exams, blood draws, and procedures. Calmer visits lead to better compliance, better diagnostics, and a dog who doesn’t dread the vet.
Full Diagnostics On-Site
Digital radiology, ultrasound, and a comprehensive in-house lab mean most cases get answers the same day — without waiting on an outside referral.
Surgery Capability In-House
Spays, neuters, mass removals, and soft-tissue surgery are performed in a modern surgical suite, with a dedicated technician monitoring anesthesia throughout every procedure.
Comprehensive Care for Every Stage of Your Dog’s Life
From puppy wellness and vaccinations through senior care, NSVH provides complete veterinary services for dogs: preventive and wellness care, vaccinations, on-site diagnostics, soft-tissue surgery, dental care, and pain management. Every wellness visit is scheduled for a full 30 minutes with the doctor, so nothing about your dog’s health gets rushed.
For cases that require advanced or specialized treatment, we draw on an established specialist referral network so your dog gets exactly the care they need.
New Patient FAQ
What vaccines does my dog need at their first visit?
Core canine vaccines include rabies and the combination DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza). Depending on your dog’s lifestyle, we may also recommend leptospirosis, Bordetella (kennel cough), canine influenza, or Lyme. At your first visit the doctor reviews your dog’s history and tailors a vaccine plan to their age and risk.
Do you see large breed dogs?
Absolutely. We care for dogs of every size and breed, from toy breeds to giant breeds, and our exam and surgical equipment is set up to handle them comfortably.
Can you help with a dog who’s anxious at the vet?
Yes — it’s central to how we practice. Our entire team is Fear Free trained in low-stress handling, and for especially anxious dogs we can recommend calming pre-visit medications and techniques to make the experience as stress-free as possible.
Do you perform spay/neuter procedures?
Yes. Spays, neuters, and other soft-tissue surgeries are performed in-house in our modern surgical suite, with a dedicated technician monitoring your dog’s anesthesia and vital signs throughout.
How do I transfer records from my current vet?
Just give us your previous veterinarian’s name and we can request your dog’s records, or you can have them sent to us ahead of your first visit. Bringing any vaccination history you have also helps us get started.
Do you offer full-day drop-off appointments?
Yes — drop-off appointments are available when that’s more convenient. Drop your dog off in the morning and our team will care for them and call you with an update during the day.
