About Dr. D

Heather DiGiacomo VMD

Dr. D is a lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area. She is a graduate of the Academy of Notre Dame in Villanova, Colgate University in beautiful Hamilton, NY and the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. D specializes in canine and feline medicine and surgery, with special interests in dentistry, pain management and feline medicine.

Dr. DiGiacomo has eighteen years of experience in small animal medicine, dentistry and surgery. Having worked at several of the most prestigious practices on the Main Line, Dr. D has extensive experience in veterinary dentistry, gastroenterology, dermatology, radiology, internal medicine, pediatric medicine, soft tissue surgery and palliative care (among many other subspecialities). Dr. DiGiacomo is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and was recently elected to the board of the Independent Veterinary Practitioners Association (IVPA).  She is also an Elite Fear Free Certified Practitioner.

Practice ownership is something that Dr. D has aspired to since her first days in veterinary school. Newtown Square Veterinary Hospital is the culmination of fifteen years of ideas and inspirations collected by Dr. DiGiacomo from her varied experiences in the world of veterinary medicine. Dr. D has long hoped to create a hospital that combines a family-friendly feel and exceptional customer service with cutting edge medicine. NSVH is based on these core principles.

Outside of work, Dr. DiGiacomo is a fan of equestrian activities, Peloton, hiking, backyard chickens, headbutts from friendly cats, true crime podcasts, and The New Yorker Magazine. Dr. D lives on Fox Valley Farm, a 180 year old farm that formerly served as a retirement home for horses, along with her husband, son, fuzzy cat Goose, even fuzzier cat Pudge, Pepita the Alabama wonder mutt and a bevy of chickens.
